Forest Mushrooms
Process 1
The mushrooms start their life as small glass pieces chosen for their colour combinations. they are then constructed into a circular shape and go into the kiln for a first full fuse firing.
Process 2
Once out of the kiln the flat rounds are placed on a domed mold and put back into the kiln at a lower firing temperature to drape them into shape.
Process 3
The next part of the process is to drill a hole through the glass so that a hand forged iron stem can be screwed gently into place.
This is where it gets exciting… arranging them into an installation, especially when you have come across a lovely hollowed out tree branch.
