Sycamore Spinners

This playful piece was created from a lovely childhood memory, of throwing fallen sycamore seeds as high into the air as I could and delighting in watching them spin their way to the ground.

Exploring The Light

No 1 of 5  “Glimmers of Hope”

This piece explores the process of forming new ideas at the point where there are notions present in their nuclear form. Blue is used to represent exploration, inner strength, truth and spiritual inspiration.Yellow, for quests of the heart, purpose and a desire to grow.

No 2 of 5 “Rays of Hope”

Following on from the first piece, separate ideas have begun to assemble into a more cohesive  form and there is an anticipation of deeper insight and enquiry. In this piece the is a more solid core of yellow, representing increasing inner growth. The long pieces of blue iridescent glass catch more light representing a stronger belief that there is insight worth searching for.

No 3 of 5  “Gathering The Light”

In this piece, further insights gather a pace and shed brighter light and deeper understanding, bringing a freshness of thought and anticipation of a fuller and more comprehensive understanding. The colours in this piece are altogether lighter and a lot of iridescent glass is used to form more solid  lines that float within the light blues of the circle. this was done to represent the growth of  ideas into a more structural form.

No 4 of 5 “The Light Within”

This piece, which is the largest and thickest of the five, represents how we hold the light within our minds and hearts as it fills us with a spirit of love and depth of understanding  of our place within the world. The colours merge together and radiate out from a central golden glow. this time there are areas of red, representing the strength, determination and courage that we find within.

No 5 of 5 “Joy”

The last in the series is pure and simple Joy that cannot be kept within but has to be shared. The spiral representing our ever-increasing search for wisdom and meaning and the colours of light themselves representing how we are all connected and what we are, is reflected back to us from the energy of the universe. Here I have used a spectrum of colours that represents the fullness that spills over and out as we share our joy with those around us.
