Family History

Alfred Stannard (1806–1889) 

Alfred was my 5x Great Grandfather on my Fathers side of the family. He was an English marine and landscape painter from a well known family of Artists. He was a member of the Norwich School of Painters and a student of his older Brother Joseph.

Sixteen of his paintings are exhibited at the Norwich Museum and Art Gallery, including scenes from the River Yare on the Norfolk Broads.

Eloise Harriet Stannard (1829-1915) 

Daughter of Alfred, Eloise was well known for her still life work and was also one of the Norwich School of Painters. She contributed to the British institution from 1852 and The Royal Academy of Arts in 1856.

She was and is one of the most outstanding still life painters of Europe in the 19th Century.
